When I started this B-2 book project back in November 1988, I wasn¡¯t quite sure where it would take me or how long the journey would be. My goal was to put something down in print that would show the world just how innovative the American aerospace industry is when they put their collective heads together to create Jack Northrop¡¯s dream come true, the B-2A Spirit Stealth Bomber.I figured that I would be hindered by the very same mindset that surrounded the original Blackbird program: Cygnus to Senior Crown. The Blackbird¡¯s unofficial/official policy toward the release of photos and information back in the late 1960s, through the end of the program in 1990, was not to cooperate, drag their feet on my FOIA requests, and just make life as difficult as they could in my questfor information.
