《中国曲艺》分为六章，前三章从曲艺的文化、艺术传统和表演艺术三个层面对曲艺进行了总体的历史性概述，后三章分析列举了四种有代表性的曲艺形式——说书、弹词、鼓曲和相声。中国曲艺系统又简单明了地从文化、艺术的角度对曲艺的发展与具体形式做了详细考察。全稿在阐释了中国曲艺文化独特魅力的同时，不时关注到民间艺术发展的整个历史文化背景。
CHINESE FOLK PERFORMING ART-中国曲艺 内容简介
曲艺，是中华民族各种说唱艺术的统称。它是由民间口头文学和歌唱艺术经过长期发展演变形成，是以“口语说唱”来叙述故事、塑造人物、表达思想感情、反映社会生活的表演艺术门类。多数以叙事为主、代言为辅，具有“一人多角（即一个演员模拟多种角色）”的特点，或说或唱；少数以代言为主、叙事为辅，分角色拆唱，不同的曲艺品种与其各自产生的地区方言关系密切，曲艺音乐则是我国民族音乐的重要组成部分。演出时演员人数较少，通常仅一至二三人，使用简单道具。表演形式有坐说、站说、坐唱、站唱、走唱、拆唱、彩唱等。曲本体裁有兼用散文和韵文、全部散文和全部韵文三种。音乐体式有唱曲牌的“联曲体”、唱七字句或十字句的“主曲体”，或综合使用两者。
