  The book is divided into three main parts;the first is theoretical mechanics,which are both mathematical and in terms of conception.It is necessary to discuss this part first because all mechanical models in mechanics draw from the conceptual structure of theoretical mechanics.The second is material mechanics (known traditionally as "strength of materials" and more recently called " mechanics of materials" ) ,which refers to various methods of calculating the stresses and strains in one and two-dimensional members of structures,such as beams,columns,and shafts,whose states of stress and strain can be approximated as two-dimensional; the third is elastic mechanics,which generalize one or two-dimensional states of stress and strain to three dimensions to develop a complete theory of the elastic behavior of materials.This part provides a sound theoretical development of elasticity with sufficient rigor to give students a good foundation for developing solutions to a wide class of problems.
